“Israeli” police suspect that both Sara Netanyahu and her husband Benjamin Netanyahu, knowingly accepted bribes in a corruption case linked to the Bezeq telecommunications firm, Haaretz newspaper reported Thursday.

Netanyahu has already been questioned by police several times over the case, in which police suspect government benefits were granted to Bezeq in exchange for positive couple of the Netanyahu family in the Walla news website, which it then controlled.

At a court hearing in Tel Aviv on Thursday a military attorney for the wife of Bezeq's former major shareholder Shaul Elovitch asked a police representative if Sara Netanyahu was also suspected of bribe taking.

According to Haaretz, Superintendent Uri Kanar responded that the couple were aware of the "economic meaning" of the alleged arrangement between the couples.

Kanar reportedly added that there were still several people who were yet to give evidence in the case -- known as Case 4000 - but did not specify if they were suspects or witnesses.

A lawyer for Sara Netanyahu said in response: "What is new in this absurd 'suspicion'? So, the police said [it]. Nothing ever happened."

Hebrew “Hadashot” TV reported later on Thursday that Sara and Benjamin Netanyahu's son, Yair Netanyahu, is also a suspect in the bribery case.

Netanyahu is currently being investigated in a number of other corruption cases.

In “Case 1,000”, the police states that Netanyahu accepted around $280,000 worth of luxury gifts from a number of wealthy benefactors in exchange for favorable government treatment.

“Case 2,000” centers on an arrangement with Yedioth Ahronoth publisher Arnon Mozes to limit circulation of the newspaper's main rival in exchange for more favorable coverage.
