Rouhani: War with Iran Mother of All Wars, Trump: Never Threaten US again

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned the United States against provoking Tehran, saying that a military conflict with the country would be “the mother of all wars.”

“Don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret,” the Iranian leader said while speaking to Iranian diplomats on Sunday, local news agencies reported. “The Americans must understand well that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars.”

Iranians will only be “united" by further threats from the US, Rouhani said, adding that the Islamic Republic “will certainly defeat America.”

The Iranian president reminded America of Iran’s long reach in the region.

“Iran’s strategic depth reaches the [Indian] Subcontinent to the east, and the Mediterranean to the west, the Red Sea to the south, and the Caucasus to the north,” he said. “We rooted Daesh [Arabic Acronym for the terrorist “ISIS”/”ISIL”] out and saved the people in the region; we take pride in ourselves.”

The Iranian president referred to the stance of the remaining parties to the JCPOA versus that of America and said the US has become isolated as a result of its unilateral withdrawal.

“The US is clashing with the whole world over the JCPOA,” he said, adding, “The isolated America should not [be given a chance to] recover.”

For his part, US President Donald Trump tweeted threatening: “Never, never, threaten the US again.”
