Ayatollah Qassim Undergoes Medical Tests, Need for Surgery Confirmed

The follow-up team of the treatment of Bahrain top religious and spiritual leader, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, issued a statement confirming his need to undergo surgery, after performing medical tests.

"Today, Tuesday, July 10, 2018, a specialized examination was performed for Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim by the consultant physician that is specialized in the disease, which Ayatollah Qassim suffers from. After the initial diagnosis and different medical procedures, the diagnosis coincided with that of the doctors in Bahrain, and the required treatment is available in the hospital where Ayatollah Qassim is staying currently in the British capital, London", the statement stated.

"The consultant and his team said that the age and circumstances of Sheikh Qassim require three additional consultants with different specialties to perform the required surgery," the statement added.

Ayatollah Qassim arrived in the British capital on Monday evening after medical reports called for his "immediate transfer to competent hospitals following a consensus among concerned doctors on quickly taking necessary measures to prevent the deterioration of his medical condition."
