Rights Groups Hold Silent Protest against Violent Crimes in Nigeria

Civil Society Joint Nigeria Crisis Action Committee held a national day to mourn all victims of violence in Abuja in an attempt to draw attention of the country's politicians to the violent murders that occur every day.
Protesters dressed in black and announced their intention to send groups of civilian convoys to mass murder sites in different cities in Nigeria.
The mourners near the Wahda Fountain in Abuja laid floral wreaths on behalf of each of the 36 states.
"The government is loosing its footing and is loosing its territory to arm people bandit who are killing Nigerians, and what are we doing? We cannot even have the government come together and say: my people something is wrong here, can we all work together," one of the organizers said.
Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, whose secretary-general and Leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky is still held in prison, also participated in the symbolic event, marking the day in which more than 900 IMN members were martyred during the Black Saturday massacre in Zaria, in addition to the 500 missing.
Meanwhile, kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery and religious and ethnic murder continues almost every day in Nigeria.
