Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Tehran decides on the July 2015 nuclear deal based on its national interests.

Zarif: Iran Decides About JCPOA Based On Its National Interests

If the US makes a wrong decision as predicted, it will meet with an appropriate response from Iran, Zarif further warned.

Iran made precise predictions for dealing with the May 12 US decision about whether Washington will suspend anti-Iran sanctions or not, Zarif said.

Washington's withdrawal from the Iran Deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA] will surely lead to the US isolation in the world, the foreign minister added.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump threatened that he will not suspend anti-Iran sanctions once more.

This is while many world leaders including the Europeans want to preserve the JCPOA, trying to remind Trump of the consequences for his decision.

Zarif reiterated that Tehran's interests have to be preserved in the JCPOA, otherwise, Iran will properly respond to the US if it tries to put economic pressures on the country through different methods.

Talking about a possible US temporary suspension of the anti-Iran sanctions, Zarif said 'No remarks about the issue can be made now. We should wait for the May 12 decision.'
