At least 71 Yemeni civilians were martyred in the last 48 hours in Saudi airstrikes against the country, residents and local media reported.

Several airstrikes rained down on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, early on Monday, massacring at least 11 people, including three children and two women.

According to local activist, two buildings were flattened in Hay Asr, a residential neighborhood to the west of Sanaa, as the Saudi coalition raids targeted the home of Mohammed al-Raimi.

Meanwhile, the Al-Massirah TV network stated that at least eight civilians, including two women, lost their lives in strikes in Hodeidah province, 226km west of Sanaa, while four civilians were killed in raids on a government building in the central province of Dhamar.

For its part, the Saba news agency reported that at least 48 civilians, including 11 children, were martyred in 51 airstrikes across Yemen on Sunday.

Saba also reported that scores of people were injured after four airstrikes targeted a public protest in Arhab district, against US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist entity.

According to the medical journal The Lancet, the effect of war on Yemen's densely packed civilian neighborhoods has been devastating.
