In the letter, Soleimani apologized to the family owning the building, which was not in the city at the time of the battle, for entering without permission and staying in the house, and asks for forgiveness for the trespassing.

The building was used as a military headquarters and a residence for Soleimani during the Liberation of Albukamal. The city of Albukamal was the last urban stronghold Daesh [the Arabic acronym for terrorist ‘ISIS/ISIL' group] had in Syria, and fell to joint Syrian, Iranian and Hezbollah forces in a military operation that was officially concluded on November 22.

The Revolutionary Guard General furthermore added he would reimburse the family for any damage inflicted upon the house or any properties inside it, and even included his personal phone number at the end of the note so that he could be reached for any requests regarding compensation.

Soleimani concluded by stating that while he is Shia and the house owners likely being Sunni Muslims, that both of them are followers of the greater message of the Prophet Muhammad, and that they thus are brothers and sisters in faith.
