Arbaeen Walk 2017: Where the World Flocks towards Karbala [Photos]

Millions stream down the 80-kilometer highway from Najaf to Karbala to pay homage to Imam Hussein, the grandson of Islam's prophet Mohammad [PBUH].

From all walks of life and; more noticeably every year from across the globe, young and old take part in the Arbaeen pilgrimage which comes to an end on Friday. Some start their journey a few weeks before as they come on foot from the different Iraqi provinces or cities of other countries at the borders of Iraq while the majority start their walking journey from Najaf, which lasts for two to three days.

The following is a photo report on the events taking place on the Najaf-Karbala highway.
