Saudi Arabia to Deprive Children from Education, Slams UN Fund to Edu Ministry

According Saudi broadcaster, Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned United Nations financing of 14 million dollars to the Yemeni Education Ministry.

Saudi Arabia had called on the UN to reconsider its decision, and said UN support for the Ansarullah movement is unjustifiable and unacceptable.

Al-Arabiya reported that the Saudi delegation to the UN said Ansarullah had placed at least 50,000 land mines at the Saudi-Yemeni border.

It alleged that other tens of thousands of mines were placed in populated cities and villages in Yemen and in the Red Sea region near the coast of Midi and the island of Tawak.

The Saudi delegation said in addition to being a security threat to Saudi Arabia, the mines are a violation of UN Security Council resolutions and threaten the passage of international maritime traffic.

The US-backed Saudi-aggression on Yemen began in March 2015 as former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi fled to Saudi Arabia.

The UN said 8,530 people - 60% of whom were civilians - had been martyred since the start of the coalition's attacks.

It said airstrikes and ground clashes had thus far wounded about 48,800 people.

According to the UN, the Saudi-led coalition in 2016 alone martyred 683 Yemeni minors, many of whom were children.
