Bahrain Crackdown: Regime Arrests Organizers of Main Ashura Memorials

The Bahraini regime's system arrested the three organizers of main Ashura memorials in Diraz and the chief of unified Ashura procession march in the besieged town since June 20, 2016.
In this respect, the Lualua TV channel cited informed sources as saying that arresting the four organizers of the Ashura processions in the region followed a series of repeated attacks since the beginning of the Hijri month of Muharram.
Targeting the Ashura rituals, the occasion that commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein [AS], the third Shia imam, escalated on the tenth night of Muharram. The organizers who have been summoned are Hajj Ali al-Najjar, Hajj Mahdi Zeinuddine, Hajj Abdul Baqi Shehabi and Hajj Mohammad Farqad Abdul Nabi.
They were interrogated at 19:00 and are expected to be arrested and appear before the General Prosecution.
The regime also summoned other organizers amid the heavy-handed crackdown against Shia in the kingdom. Accompanied with security forces, civilian-dressed militias attacked Ashura processions in the country over the ten days of Muharram.
