Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi stated on Monday that suitable reciprocal actions and measures have been taken in the face of Washington's new stance.

On January 27, President Donald Trump signed an executive order which locked the entry of citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen into the US for 90 days. It also suspended entry of all refugees for 120 days and barred Syrian refugees indefinitely.

Qassemi added that among these measures is the establishment of a committee comprised of several organizations and offices of the foreign ministry.

"This committee has begun its work and we hope that it will envision further suitable measures to deal with the new situation," he said.

He added that since its establishment the committee has issued several directives which have been sent to Iranian embassies throughout the world.

"These directives deal with upholding the dignity of Iranians outside of the country, especially those who may have run into trouble in the US," he stressed.

Earlier, Iran's First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri said that Trump's orders were "illegal, inhumane and in violation of human rights," and that suitable reciprocal measures will be taken.
