The official added that the Yemeni army and popular committees targeted a military vehicle in al-Khalefain area with two guided missiles.

The military vehicle was destroyed, killing and injuring militiamen aboard.

In a related context, the Saudi Royal Air Force went on a rampage Sunday night in the northern Yemeni countryside.

According to local activists, the Saudi fighter jets carried out over 65 airstrikes in northern Yemen, killing a large number of civilians and destroying several residential buildings.

The Saudi airstrikes were primarily conducted in Hajja, Sa'ada, Sana'a, and Umran provinces of northern Yemen.

These airstrikes were meant to punish the Yemeni civilians for not backing the corrupt regime of Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Yemeni Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people had been martyred and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression had also taken a heavy toll on Yemen's facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces had been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
