AS-SAFIR: Either Confrontation or Settlement!

Well-informed sources assured that there is a serious discussion inside the Future party, where a major question rose: "where to?" The sources said that the possibility of seeing a real breakthrough in Lebanon on the basis of an agreement between the Future party and Hizbullah is difficult to see within the current regional conditions and its complications.

According to the sources, the Lebanese Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq has called on his friends to take a decisive decision: either head bravely towards a settlement or stand clearly on the lines of confrontation. The Minister, according to the sources, had assured that "the policy of one step to the front and another to the back is not useful and its cons are a lot more than its pros."

Moreover, the sources stressed that the stance of the Interior Minister neither reflects a move to the front nor a step backward away from confrontation. This static state will only be broken by the arrival of Saad Hariri to Lebanon who owns the answer to the major question: What is the role of Saudi Arabia when looking at the speech of the interior minister?

AN-NAHAR: Berri Assures Dialogue Only Way Out from Crises

Head of the Lebanese Parliament is continuously reassuring that the cabinet will not fall apart despite all its sufferings, said An-Nahar newspaper on Monday. According to his visitors, Berri has reiterated that the situation is tough despite the efforts made by the Prime Miniser Tammam Salam.

Answering a question on the latest ‘skirmishes' between the Future party and Hizbullah, Berri answered that "the two sides stand before one path: either clash or arrive to a settlement and continue their dialogue."

The dialogue between the two parties began in December 2014 under the sponsorship of Berri.
On another note, Berri underscored the importance of the ‘basket' he had presented during the national dialogue sessions, assuring that "there is no solution to Lebanon's crisis other than dialogue no matter what are the regional developments."

"Everyone has to be aware of the crucial circumstances facing us on the economic and financial levels, and despite the fact that the Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil has called out loud to the difficult situation, yet we do not see serious attention or concern on this level," Berri was quoted as saying.

AL-BINAA: Hariri Seeking Help from France on Presidency, Saudi Arabia Will Not Allow Solutions

Well-informed sources told al-Binaa newspaper that head of the Future Party Saad Hariri has been trying to convince Riyadh through the French to approve the nomination of Head of the Free Patriotic Party Michel Aoun for the Presidency of Lebanon and end the presidential impasse in the country, especially that this would be Hariri's only chance to come back to power and the fill the Prime Minister's post.

The sources noted that the "French were not positive about the matter, especially that Saudi Arabia is still adherent to its position in disallowing any solution that does not comply with its desires."

The paper quoted the sources as adding that "Saudi Arabia will not allow Lebanon to see any solutions to its presidential impasse since it is adopting a ‘superiority' attitude just like it is doing in Yemen and Bahrain."

Aoun and MP Suleiman Franjieh are the 2 key candidates and both are from the Hezbollah -led March 8 alliance. Overcoming the vacuum that started in 2014 with the end of the term of President Michel Suleiman is key to resolving the crisis in Lebanon. Lebanon has been without a president since the term of Michel Suleiman ended in May 2014.
