Iraq FM Slams OIC Summit Condemning Hizbullah, Urges Unity

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry had some reservations regarding a paragraph that condemned Hizbullah on charges of supporting terrorism in the final statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation [OIC] summit that took place in Istanbul, noting that the organization must call for unity and not raise such issues.

The ministry confirmed that this reservation is a continuation of its firm stance rejecting the accusation terrorism against national resistance movements or interfere in its political components' affairs. It further added that the OIC is bound to call for unity among our countries and not to raise such issues.

The ministry said that "Iran, Lebanon and Algeria also expressed reservations on this paragraph."

The final statement of the OIC summit in Istanbul, claimed that Hizbullah supports "terrorizes and destabilizes" the member States. It also rejected the so-called "Iranian interference in the region" as well as "the acts of Hizbullah in Syria, Yemen, Bahrain and Kuwait".
