Walk to Arbaeen from all over the Globe
The highway connecting Iraq's Najaf city to Karbala is witnessing the annual ceremony of Arbaeen, where the largest mass pilgrimage takes place at this time of the Hijri Calendar.
Last year, around 20 million people poured into the highway whether women, children, elderly or men.
This year, estimates say the number will outgrow last year's.
From different walks of life, people in this place are equal, all carrying backpacks that have what they need for a two to three day pilgrimage on foot, where they leave the shrine of Imam Ali in Najaf and head to the shrine of his son Imam Hussein in Karbala.
Imam Hussein was martyred by the Umayid Khalif Yazid bin Mu'awiya in the Hijri year 62.
