The Source of the Calamity
Ibrahim al-Amin - ‘Al-Akhbar' Newspaper
When a suicide or terrorist bombing occurs in the popular areas of influence of Hizbullah in Lebanon, people come out, covered in blood, surrounded by destruction, and say: We will not abandon the resistance!
If the victims of terrorism sufficed themselves with screaming and demands for security forces to work to prevent further attacks on them, or if they only cried out of fear or pain, then they will not be judged upon anything by anyone.
However, when they declare their adherence to the option of resistance, they straighten the stance of all sides, the essence of which is: here we are, paying the price of our political path, which is the price we knew we will pay one day when we decided to march behind the resistance. Furthermore, because our confidence in the resistance is real, and we are the ones who gave it the mandate to fight on our behalf and in our defense, hence we know our responsibility, and we know that the price we must pay is great, but our conviction leads us to where we echo with loud voices: we are all ready to be sacrificed for the resistance!
Quite simply, this is not the reaction of other victims of the same terrorism. Not surprisingly, the ones whose children were killed in Paris, or anywhere else in the world, are screaming out and demanding revenge. They are, perhaps, in a situation whereby they cannot debate the causes of what is occurring in their country. However, do these people call out and announce the extent of their willingness to pay the price, whether directly or indirectly, for their governments' policies throughout the world?
Here, many will be quick to say: criticise the US administration but not the American people. Criticize the government in France, but the French people do not hold responsibility. Criticise Britain, Spain, Canada and the government of Australia, but leave the people of these countries alone. The argument of this point of view is that people are not responsible for the policies of their governments.
Actually, those who sing praise of Western democracy, that the rulers there truly reflect the will of their people, then they have to accept the principle which says that these people will bear, whether intentionally or by error - the consequences of the policies of their rulers, whether economically, politically, or on the security level. Whoever refuses to debate the roots of the problem, cannot ask others to stand by his side without any questions asked. This is what will continue to be a prominent issue regarding these people, with every development relating to terrorist attacks. There will definitely not be any horizons for change, so long as these people do not hold their governments accountable and ask them what they are doing on the other side of the world.
No one is justifying the acts of the criminals. However, here in the Levant, the West - via the hands of its soldiers, its warplanes, and its agents that come in the form of regional governments - opened the gates of hell, gates that have not yet been shut, and which consequently led to the death, injury, and disability of millions of Arabs and Muslims. This done all in the name of democracy and human rights. We cannot overlook what the terrorist governments are doing to these countries. Furthermore, there is no justification for any crime committed by the terrorists of the god of death, yet have the people of the West and its leaders, for one moment, thought about the magnitude of the agonies that were caused by their wars to the people of the region?
The challenge now is not related to those who excel in killing and bloodshed, but to those who are able to pursue policies that correct the present errors, and can close the doors to further madness. Without fundamental changes in the approach of the West to the problems of our region, and if the West does not stop stealing our wealth, and sending its terrorist armies, then it would be difficult to expect the killing machine in their countries to stop too. No matter how many investigations they conduct and measures they undertake, they know deep down that the treatment should be made at the source of the problem. The source is not merely made up of stones and people, but rather, it is a crazy idea, an idea that continues to grow in the bosom of the House of Saud, the most prominent ally of this terroristic West. It is an idea that lives comfortably in the bosom of the Zionist headquarters - that is based in the enemy entity [‘Israel'] - and which lives on through the support of the colonial West.
All the information speaks of the continuous movement of dozens of militants who intend to carry out terrorist and bloody attacks in Western countries, and in whichever place they can. And all warnings were previously received by the various Western security services. However, that will not change anything, so long as the political situation remains unchanged. This is the bottom line.
Today, the war on terrorism is no longer in theory. In addition, rather than the stance of Russia, Iran, or Hizbullah being to protect its ally in Damascus, their war today proves once again that it is a war in defense of their homelands, fellow citizens, and the values of humanity and the right to a free life.
If the West thinks - whether on the government or popular level - that the prevention of terrorism is achieved by [carrying out] blind and bloody madness in our countries, and through the overflow of racism against Arabs and Muslims in their countries, then they have not learned the lesson yet. The tragedy is that that none of us knows the amount of blood that the West - both on the government and citizenry level - requires, until it understands, that until further notice, it itself is the source of the calamity!
