Again the desperate terrorism finds no way but to target civilian areas.
At least 37 people were martyred and dozens others wounded after two large explosions rocked a crowded street in the Borj al-Barajaneh area in Dahyieh [southern suburb of Beirut.
The Lebanese al-Manar television cited that the explosions were carried out by two bombers near the General Security Post in Hussaineya street in Borj al-Barajneh on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the head of nearby Bahman hospital said at least six dead bodies and some 40 wounded have arrived at the health facility following the incident.
Television footage showed ambulances rushing to the site of the blasts to tend to the victims, with pools of blood on the roads.
The Lebanese Army confirmed that two suicide attackers were behind the attack. In a statement, it said the corpse of the third suicide bomber showed that his explosive belt was not triggered by the blast that killed him.
In response, Lebanese Prime Minister described the attack as "cowardly," calling on Lebanese to unite.
"I pray that this tragedy is enough to wake politicians up so that they can put their differences aside so we can protect the country," he said in a statement.
Similarly, House Speaker Nabih Berri said: "They [the attackers] want to obstruct the country, but we won't let them do that."
Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk vowed to punish those responsible for the attack. "We will not be lenient in apprehending those behind these attacks," he said.
