"Israeli" police stormed a university Monday in the occupied West Bank after clashes with Palestinian students protesting against "Israel's" separation barrier and recent Palestinian deaths.

The clashes erupted after Palestinian students at al-Quds University in Abu Dis gathered at the foot of the barrier separating the town from the occupied al-Quds to demonstrate against "Israeli" measures.

At least one protester used a sledge hammer to strike the wall as others crowded around carrying Palestinian flags or covering their faces with scarfs.

Furthermore, "Israeli" forces fired rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades before forcing open the gates and going inside in the campus where the students hid.

"The policemen entered firing grenades left and right," one of the students said. "They fired at us with rubber bullets, aiming for the chest and the head," he added.

The number of wounded protesters was not immediately clear. However, Palestinian medical sources said many people were hit by rubber bullets and injured in the upper parts of their bodies, while many others suffered from smoke inhalation due to tear gas.

Accordingly, the clashes follow weeks of Palestinian revolutionary activity that had raised fears of a third intifada among the "Israelis."

Around half of the Palestinian martyrs were killed while stabbing, or trying to stab "Israelis."

One of the students who protested Monday said it was in response to the high number of Palestinian deaths in recent weeks. "Many people lost their lives for their country, for their nation and for the intifada. So, we decided to do our best to oppose the separation wall. It is our responsibility," Amanda Manasra said.

In a separate incident, "Israeli" military said its troops approached two Palestinians at a gas station near a checkpoint inside the besieged West Bank boundary. One of them tried to stab a soldier and was shot dead, the "Israeli" army said. Palestinian officials said he was 16 years old. The second Palestinian was arrested, according to enemy sources.

In the besieged West Bank city of Ramallah Monday, Palestinian security forces held a military salute at a funeral ceremony for two Palestinians martyred by "Israeli" fire. One had tried to grab a soldier's rifle in al-Quds, and the other tried to stab a soldier at a West Bank checkpoint, according to the "Israeli" military.
