Seniora's new scandal at the OIC summit led his press office to issue a statement saying the Lebanese delegation has thwarted an attempt by Syria to change a clause in the final statement of the Islamic summit in Dakar which backs the immediate election of a president.
"The controversy is that the Lebanese government wants to alter the Arab initiative while the Syrian delegation and others as well adhered to the text of the initiative. In fact, this was very surprising knowing that 22 Arab states have agreed to the initiative; but now we witness an attempt to torpedo it. This shows that some sides which agreed on the Arab initiative have not been sincere in their positions," Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Moqdad told Al-Manar.
