The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee in the Iranian Shoura Council Alaeddin Boroujerdi said "the country is waiting for the new Saudi leadership to respond to Iran's initiative to open a new slate in relations between the two countries."

Boroujerdi: Open to KSA, Waiting A Response to Our Initiative

He further added that "if it is true that King Salman bin Abdul Aziz said President Barack Obama Riyadh has no reservations about the nuclear negotiations with Iran, it is a new approach and a shift in Saudi policy".

Boroujerdi said in an interview with al-Jomhouriya newspaper that "if a new slate in relations between the two countries was established, there are a lot of positive achievements entailed to it".

Furthermore, Boroujerdi considered the Lebanese presidential elections an internal matter. He added that if the Lebanese thought that this election depended on the nature of the relationship between Riyadh and Tehran, the latter "vindicated the intention and desire to open a new positive slate with Saudi Arabia."

The head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Iranian Shoura Council viewed that Daesh began the countdown and it had become a source of concern for the Americans and Europeans, calling on Riyadh to take a stance different from the previous stance "toward this terrorist organization which has become a threat to Saudi Arabia itself."

Agreement with the P5 + 1 Not Hopeless

Boroujerdi commented that it is not hopeless for Iran and the Western nations to reach a final agreement on the nuclear issue in June," but we are not very optimistic about the possibility of reaching a final solution"; he warned that Washington and its associates "will be the biggest loser of the lack of agreement".

He disclosed that the Iranian Shoura Council was issuing a bill obliging the Iranian government to continue uranium enrichment and to quickly progress in the nuclear program if it did not arrive to the desired result in the peaceful nuclear issuewith the six countries.

"It is no secret that the Zionist enemy plays a destructive role in the field of nuclear negotiations against Iran;it has killed a number of our nuclear scientists, and the latest manifestation of the "Israeli" attacks is represented in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Ali Allah Daddy in Quneitra."

He added, "Over the past periods, we responded to these Zionist practices; among those responses and theirprominent manifestations is the Islamic Republic of Iran'ssupport to the resistance factions and movements in the region, especially towards the Islamic resistance in Lebanon and the Islamic Jihad and Hamas in Palestine. Hence, the confrontation with the "Israeli" enemy is not novel, but it began long ago".

Boroujerdi pointed out that since May 2000 - the moment we saw the defeat of the Zionist entity at the hands of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, which was demonstrated by the liberalization of the Lebanese territory -the defeats of the Zionist enemy and the victories of the resistance axis began. "Henceforth, we have seen a series of successive defeats upon the enemy; and thus the victories achieved by the axis of resistance wereportrayed in July 2006 aggression on Lebanon. None the less, the brute "Israeli" attacks on the occupied Palestine and Gaza, whether in 2008, 2012 or 2014."

Shackled Zionist Entity

Boroujerdi stressed that the equations or rules of engagement set by Hizbullah - which stated that for every "Israeli" strike, there would be a serious blow by the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - had complicated matters and had narrowed prospects more than ever in front of the Zionist entity.

He explained that the troubles and hardships suffered by "Israel", whether at the political, military or psychological levels are much larger than they were in the past. He believed that the Syrian arena had reflected the defeats of the Zionist enemy were reflected, the American scheme and its allies, both at the European level or at the regional level.

He also stated, "No one will forget that these parties announced in many occasions that President Bashar al-Assad will fall within two or three months. And now four years have passed since the Syrian crisis and none of those expectation happened.I believe that this victory is not only a victory for Syria, but it is also a victory for the resistance because the Islamic Republic of Iran played an important role in this context;so did the Islamic Resistance in the same context".

Solution to Syrian Crisis Political

On another level, Boroujerdi emphasized that there was no longer another way out of the Syrian crisis but the political process, given that the incitements extremist groups had become disturbing and confusing even for the parties the initially founded them.

"The concern started to overwhelm both the US and the Europeans," he said, noting that "This threat also extended towards the regional countries that supported this extremism in the region."

According to the Iranian top official,"Moscow's initiative was in the direction of finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis. It is true that the factions involved did not participate in full in the Moscow meeting, but in any case, this meeting carried an important message: first it stated that the available solution to this crisis is a political solution, and secondly that the solution is a Syrian - Syrian solution, and there was no order or political initiative away from Damascus and Geneva that could produce a solution to the Syrian crisis."

On the other hand, Boroujerdi revealed that they were ready to conduct joint military maneuvers with the Gulf States or set joint military plans to communally defend the interests of this region. "But in any case, we see that those countries, unfortunately, depend on some of the parties and the countries that are considered enemies of this region."

With regard to the Lebanese issue, he said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the presidential election to bea Lebanese internal matter. If the Lebanese side believes that the Islamic Republic of Iran is able to provide help in this field, then Iran has proved that it does not skimp on providing support to strengthen and consolidate security, tranquility and stability in Lebanon."

Boroujerdi pointed out that "if the Lebanese side also believes that this presidential election also depends on the nature of the bilateral relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and then I repeat the previous question and declare that the Islamic Republic of Iran vindicated intention and desire to open a new positive slate of bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia."
