Dempsey: US Sent Team to ’Israel’ to Learn War Tactics

A day following Amnesty International's criticism of "Israel's" recent aggression against civilians in seized Gaza, US chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Martin Dempsey said on Thursday that the United States is learning from "Israel's" tactics on how to "limit civilian casualties" in a war.

Dempsey said that the Pentagon has sent a team to see what lessons could be learned from the recent "Israeli" invasion on seized Gaza on how to limit civilian casualties.

He said the Pentagon had sent the team of senior officials and non-commissioned officers recently three months ago to work with "Israel" War Forces ["IDF"] to see what could be learned from the recent aggression on seized Gaza, "to include the measures they took to prevent civilian casualties and what they did with tunneling."

He further claimed the "Israeli" military went to "extraordinary lengths" to limit civilian casualties in the 50-day aggression on seized Gaza.

Furthermore, Dempsey also praised the so-called roof-knocking technique as some of the measures used by the "Israeli" military to avoid civilian casualties. The technique involves dropping a low-yield explosives device on the roof of a building before launching a full-blown attack.
The technique was criticized by rights groups over its ineffectiveness in warning civilians. The groups say it can martyr residents of a building instead of making them leave it.

Moreover, the remarks came as the recent "Israeli" aggression has been widely condemned by the international community over the martyring of civilians, including women and children during the agression.
The White House also criticized "Israel" for causing "indefensible and unacceptable" martyrdoms.

At least 2,140 Palestinians were martyred, mostly civilians, when the "Israeli" regime launched its aggression on seized Gaza on July 8 and later expanded it into a ground invasion of the Palestinian land.
During the aggression also, "Israel" attacked UN-run schools, prompting Amnesty International to condemn "Israel's" "callous indifference" to the carnage caused by attacks on civilian targets.

Amnesty International [AI] said in a report on Wednesday that the "Israeli" military displayed "shocking disregard" for civilian lives in seized Gaza during its aggression.

It documented eight instances in which "Israeli" forces attacked homes in seized Gaza "without warning", martyring "at least 104 civilians including 62 children".

"The report reveals a pattern of frequent "Israeli" attacks using large aerial bombs to level civilian homes, sometimes killing [martyring] entire families," AI said.

"The devastation to civilian lives... was clearly disproportionate," it added.

Furthermore, the report charged that when "Israel" appeared to have failed to identify "any possible military target" in a Gaza residential building, the Zionist regime may have "directly and deliberately targeted civilians or civilian objects, which would constitute war crimes."

"The report exposes a pattern of attacks on civilian homes by "Israeli" forces which have shown a shocking disregard for the lives of Palestinian civilians, who were given no warning and had no chance to flee," said Amnesty's director for the Middle East and North Africa, Philip Luther.
