The Lebanese Army clashed with terror suspects during an early morning raid Thursday on a two-story house in north Lebanon, killing two and wounding a local Lebanese man who beheaded a soldier held captive by extremist terrorists.

Security sources identified the wounded man as Ahmad Salim Mikati, accused by authorities of executing Lebanese soldier Ali Sayyed while being held by the extremist group "ISIL".
One soldier was also wounded in the exchange of fire, the sources added.

They said the apartment in the Dinnieh town of Asoun was inhabited by a "terror ring" made up of Lebanese and Syrian gunmen wanted by authorities.
Mikati was taken in an armored personnel carrier to a hospital outside north Lebanon and was being kept under heavy military guard.

Among the fatalities was a Syrian national whose name was not immediately revealed. The source said his body was taken to Asoun's public hospital. He said the other man's body was charred.

Soldiers confiscated large quantities of weapons, ammunition, bombs and explosive belts found during the 5 a.m. raid, sources added.
Troops sealed off Asoun, set up checkpoints and launched a hunt for another suspect who escaped during the raid.

The sources, however, said soldiers were able to arrest a "very dangerous" suspect in the vicinity of the targeted house just before the raid got underway.
Sayyed was the first of three Lebanese soldiers to be executed by terrorist militants who took at least 30 soldiers and policemen hostage after briefly taking over the northeastern border town of Arsal in August, engaging the military in five days of fierce battles.

The militants are still holding 27 captives hostage in an attempt to swap them with inmates held at Roumieh Prison.
