The White House on Friday praised allies Britain, Denmark and Belgium for joining the military coalition that claims fighting the so-called "Daesh" [ISIL] extremist group in Iraq.

"We certainly welcome the recent vote that occurred in the British parliament," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said.

"We are pleased to see the strong support from members of parliament for members of the British military working alongside US servicemen and women," he said.

Earnest further said that a vote by the Belgian parliament to send six F-16 jets to the coalition was a "welcome development."

He also noted Denmark's move to send seven of the planes to Iraq.

Britain's parliament voted overwhelmingly on Friday to approve air strikes by Tornado jets against Daesh targets in Iraq.

However, like Denmark and Belgium, Britain will not allow its jets to strike Daesh targets in Syria -- where the United States and its Arab allies have launched air strikes recently.
