JPMorgan, Four Unnamed U.S. Banks Hit in Recent Cyber Attacks
JP Morgan and at least four other firms were hit this month by co-ordinated attacks which siphoned off huge amounts of data, as The New York Times reported on Wednesday.

The hackers infiltrated the networks of the banks, siphoning off gigabytes of data, including checking and savings account information, in what security experts described as a sophisticated cyberattack.

JPMorgan Chase & Co was the victim of a recent cyber attack, according to two people familiar with the incident who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter. They declined to elaborate on the severity of the incident.

JPMorgan spokesman Brian Marchiony also declined comment when asked about the attack.

Meanwhile, the FBI said it was investigating the reports without confirming details.

"We are working with the United States secret service to determine the scope of recently reported cyber-attacks against several American financial institutions," a spokesman said.
