The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei confirmed on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic currently faces two main foreign and domestic challenges; the first of which is the "inconvenience and obtrusion of the United States."

Imam Khamenei: Iran Emerged Triumphant despite US Terror Tactics, Pressure

Imam Khamenei made the remarks while addressing crowds of people at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Ruhollah Khomeini who passed away in 1989. On Wednesday, Iran and the Islamic Revolution marked the 25th anniversary of the passing away of Imam Khomeini.

"The US has tried tactics against Iran including terror and supporting opposition without any result," His Eminence said.

Imam Khamenei further added: "Iran makes big progresses day by day, despite the western powers' pressure. The Islamic Republic was not overthrown despite all efforts of western powers in last 35 years, and did not give up even."

Commenting on the second challenge for the Islamic Republic, the Leader highlighted that the domestic challenge is making a mistake in recognizing the main enemy.

He went on to note that the groups across the Islamic world under the name of Takfiri which are promoting anti-Shia and anti-Iran actions are not the main enemy of Iran, adding that "the main enemy is the power behind the groups."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has the first say when it comes to policy making in the region; it stands alone against the usurper regime [of "Israel"], that is supported by the world bullying powers; it does not tolerate the tyrant while defending the oppressed."

Imam Khamenei also noted that the "Islamic Awakening" in the world can't be stopped and will be extended.

Moreover, he mentioned: " Despite all these [pressure and sanctions], the Islamic Republic gained growing progress, without surrendering."

"Islamic Awakening might be suppressed in part of the world of Islam for a while but undoubtedly would not be uprooted. It would keep growing. Such a concept and understanding seen in countries and Muslim young generation in the region is not something which can be easily discarded. Of course, they will continue trying and their efforts might seem successful in certain domains for a short period of time but not so on the long run."

Recalling the late Imam Khomeini, he said, "In Imamˈs school of thought, the power gained out of forgery and force is not accepted; however, any authority resulting from public elections is meaningful."
