South African Justice Minister Jeff Radebe warned that his country would not be used as a battleground for foreign nations at a press conference on Wednesday.

Adebe's stern warning at the press conference came after the expulsion of Rwandan diplomats suspected of masterminding an attack on the home of an exiled Rwandan general in Johannesburg. He also noted that the government has evidence that linked the diplomats to "illegal activities" in the country.

"We want to send a very stern warning to anybody anywhere in the world that our country will not be used as a ‘springboard' for such practices," he said.

Responding to reporters, he added that, "Any individual or groups of people who abuse our human rights dispensation... will face the full might of the law."

South Africa previously expelled the Rwandan diplomats in connection with the "assassination attempt" on the home of former Rwandan army Chief General Faustin Kayumba Nyamwasa, which took place on March 3.
