Lebanese Defense Caretaker Minister, Fayez Ghoson, revealed Friday that the Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate arrested on 27/7/2013 Hassan Hussein Reid, who admitted to be responsible of some terrorist operations as well as the preparation for some terrorist car bombs in conjunction with Omar Ahmad al-Atrash and others.

In a statement issued by Ghoson, he clarified that Reid confessions came as follows:

Reid admitted having killed a number of LA soldiers on their checkpoint in Wadi Hmayyed-Arsal, along with other suspects and four Syrian nationals.
The suspect also confessed that he, with other partners of Syrian nationalities, murdered four people of al-Jaafar and al-Amhaz families and a Turkish citizen in Wady Rafeq.

The culprit was also part of the two Hermel blasts that wounded a number of army officers and soldiers.
In addition, the man confessed to taking part in the preparation and detonation of two roadside bombs on the Hermel road on July 7, which left an officer and several soldiers wounded.
According to Ghoson, Reid was aware of his partners' Omar and Sami al-Atrash, Zuhair Hussein Amoun, Sameh al-Baridi and Ahmad Abdel Karim Hmayyed, setting up several booby traps to explode them in Beirut's southern suburbs and other Lebanese regions.

"The investigations showed that the Kia car used in the attack was stolen at gun point from the Khalde area on the eve of the blast," he stated, pointing out that "the Syrian national Hossam Diab Ghanem Abu Halaq was arrested by the Intelligence Directorate and that he had ties to other individuals suspected of being involved in the bombing."

The minister also revealed that the Intelligence Directorate has strong leads in the case of the May 26 rocket attack on the Beirut southern suburb of Shiyyah and that it was pursuing one of the suspects.
"The directorate has accurate information about the handlers of these individuals, about the mastermind and the involved groups and about their affiliations and nationalities," Ghoson added, referring to the Shiyyah attack.
He also unveiled that the LA investigations deduced that Omar al-Atrash was the mastermind of the group.

On the same level, the minister highlighted that the suspects were also responsible of Beer al-Abed terrorist explosion, on the 9/7/2012.
Ghoson also said that the Army intelligence has strong links to the rocket launching on Beirut southern suburbs and it is tracking down one of the involved suspects.

As the top security official reiterated the LA and its intelligence services are vigilant on the country and its people, he noted that revealing such facts would put an end to all assumptions and speculations aimed at creating a fuss amid the Lebanese public opinion
"Based from our keenness on the civil peace and awareness of the seriousness of the army's information, we chose to disclose a small amount of them to inform the public opinion so as to, in turn, ward off sedition and strife amid the Lebanese," Ghoson confirmed.

He further stressed that the information he provided were neither analyses nor speculations, but real facts based on the LA investigations, which included confessions of the arrested suspects.

"The decision to disclose facts on the latest security events in Lebanon is based on our conviction in the need of naming things the way they are," he added.
Amid all this, Ghoson urged the Lebanese people to support the Lebanese military institution in catching criminals "to prevent them from targeting innocent civilians and sabotaging our national unity and coexistence."
He also warned that "Lebanon has started to fall into the grip of terrorism and that everyone must realize the seriousness of this period."
