‘Yes’ to the Outstretched Hand!

‘Yes to the outstretched hand'; these words summarize the unanimous national stance towards the call of Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah to an all-inclusive national dialogue without preconditions and transcending disputes.

All agreed there should be a call for dialogue free from preconditions to trespass the crisis. They iterated Sayyed Nasrallah's national stance on "the dangers of targeting the Lebanese Army, as it would affect the stability of the entire country."

In this context, member of the National Struggle Party and Caretaker Transportation and Public Works Minister, Ghazi al-Aridi saw that Sayyed Nasrallah's latest stance on dialogue is decent, recapping the importance of every call for dialogue, similar to that of Sayyed Nasrallah.

"Like Sayyed Nasrallah said, it is more than crucial to hold dialogue particularly in this phase, as there is no other choice before the Lebanese but dialogue," Aridi iterated.

Concerning Sayyed Nasrallah's words on the importance of protecting the Lebanese Army, Aridi underscored to Al-Ahed news that his party supports the reinforcement and protection of the Lebanese army and all the state's institutions, noting "We believe the Lebanese army and state are haven to all the Lebanese, especially if strong and capable of protecting the people."

For his part, member of the Lebanese Kataeb [Phalanges] party, MP Elie Marouni remarked that his party believes in what Sayyed Nasrallah said, the Phalanges party believes that "dialogue is the only means to communication among the Lebanese, otherwise the choice would be war and destruction."
Marouni emphasized the importance of Sayyed Nasrallah's call, noting "such a dialogue would be positive if it were to be discussed in actual sessions and its outcome be applied.

In a statement to Al-Ahed news, Marouni said the Lebanese army is the sole refuge and last hope to Lebanon, stressing objection to any attack against the army, be it a political, military, or security attack.

Also, Grand Serail sources considered that Sayyed Nasrallah's stance on national dialogue is in parallel with the calls of Lebanese President Michel Suleiman. The sources expressed discontent towards the ongoing negligence of dialogue and the incapability to form a government.

In addition, these sources stressed that Sayyed Nasrallah's speech was frank and reassuring, describing it as patriotic.

In reaction to the speech Sayyed Nasrallah delivered during the Iftar banquet held by the Hizbullah ‘Islamic Resistance Support Organization', Future Bloc member and Islamic Jama'a MP Imad al-Hout pointed out that Sayyed Nasrallah's speech on dialogue is welcome, it is a dialogue that all the Lebanese need to give birth to common living in the country.

Al-Hout embraced Sayyed Nasrallah's position, that dialogue should take place only if it has clear objectives, as what matters is putting its outcome into effect.
He also accentuated the importance of preserving the state's institutions, backing Sayyed Nasrallah's request to preserve the Lebanese army and respect it through two steps: limiting all arms [except that of the Resistance pointed towards "Israel"] to the Lebanese army, and guiding the Lebanese army in case of mistakes.

Meanwhile, Ammar Houri, the Future bloc MP, when asked about Sayyed Nasrallah's call to dialogue told our website "We are discussing the issue".

Hizbullah Secretary General delivered a speech on the 19th of July 2013, reiterating the importance of national dialogue in order to agree on a defense strategy, as well as the importance of preserving the Lebanese Army.

Sayyed Nasrallah assured "We are always ready for dialogue without restrictions to discuss Lebanon's National defense strategy. We presented a defense strategy since 2006, but no one from the opposing parties discussed this strategy because these parties are not serious about discussing it."

He urged the Lebanese to be careful especially in light of the current instability Lebanon witnesses, assuring that if the army is divided, there will be no more peace or stability in the country, there will be no state.

"The army should be preserved, it might have made some mistakes but this institution is not to be touched. The army is the guarantee to Lebanon's security and is the institution which brings sons of Lebanon from the different sects together."
