Syrian opposition groups posted photos online on Thursday displaying the desecration of the Prophet Mohammad's (pbuh) companion Hujr Ibn Oday al-Kindi's holy shrine in Adra, Damascus's countryside.
The so-called Free Syrian Army had exhumed al-Kindi's tomb and removed the corpse, desecrating a Muslim sanctity.
On this note, Hizbullah censured such a profane act, mentioning in a statement, "Hizbullah expresses its great pain for the news that talked about the attack by terrorist armed groups against the holy Hujr Ibn Oday's shrine."
"The desecration and the violation of the shrine's sanctity in such a manner reflects the criminal terrorist mentality that does not take into regard the sacredness of Muslim and Christian holy sites," Hizbullah's statement reported.
For his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki condemned the exhumation and desecration al-Kindi's tomb, describing the act as "targeting Muslim's unity."
Moreover, the Iraqi Vice President Khodair al-Khozaei considered that the terrorists in Syria had unmasked their true identity of hatred towards Prophet Mohammad's companions by targeting al-Sahabi Hujr Ibn Oday's holy shrine.
For his part, the Imam of al-Quds Mosque in Sidon Sheikh Maher Hammoud scorned the desecration, stressing, "No one, especially al-Nusra Front, can impose its opinion on others."
In an interview with al-Ahed News website, Hammoud noted, "the armed militiamen's action widens the gap between Muslims."
"These groups must be stopped because they do not know the true dimensions of the Islamic Jurisprudence and do not have the authority to do so," he added.
"The number one benefactor is the "Israeli" enemy," Sheikh Hammoud stressed.
The so-called FSA had declared responsibility of the tomb's exhumation and desecration, and tweeted to have moved his holy corpse to an anonymous place so that "Shiites would lose his tomb."
