At least two rockets exploded in "Israel's" Red Sea resort of Eilat early on Wednesday causing no casualties but prompting the Zionist entity to close the airport, police said.
"We've found two explosion sites in the city, we've also closed off the airport as a precaution," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told Agence France Presse, saying one landed in "an open area close to one of the neighborhoods."
He said the sirens had sounded but that there were no initial reports of casualties. "Bomb disposal experts are searching the area," he said.
Rosenfeld said a number of explosions were heard but he could not say from where rockets were fired.
"Israeli" media said the army had recently deployed a battery of the Iron Dome anti-missile system in Eilat.
An Eilat police spokesman told the "Israeli" media that sirens were heard at around 9 am, followed by several explosions.
Two rockets also landed in the neighboring Jordanian resort city of Aqaba, "Israel" Radio reported, although later quoted Jordanian authorities as saying that no rockets had fallen in the area.
"Israel" Radio reported that the military establishment is looking into why the anti-missile system failed to bring down the rockets. Eilat Mayor Meir Yitzhak Halevi said that to the best of his knowledge, the Iron Dome anti-missile system had not been activated.
In Sinai, Egyptian security forces began a search of the border area to investigate the "Israeli" claims.
"There is not yet any evidence indicating that these rockets were fired from Egypt," an Egyptian security source said.
