The Iranian Army plans to unveil more home-made chopper simulators in the current Iranian year, an army commander announced on Monday.


Iran to Unveil More Military Achievements "Four chopper simulators will be unveiled this year," Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told reporters on the threshold of the country's National Army Day.

He added that the country's defense industries are also working on plans to manufacture a national chopper. "The three achievements, in the fields of communications, simulators and air defense, would be unveiled on April 18 on the occasion of Iran's Army Day."

Referring to the activities of the Ground Forces during the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), Pourdastan said, "Fighting terrorist groups, smugglers and villains were among the Army's measures."
As regards the army's plans and programs for the current year, Pourdastan said his forces will stage 8 special drills this year in a bid to maintain and boost their defense capabilities.

Senior Iranian military officials announced in September 2010 that Iran gained self-sufficiency in manufacturing simulators, adding that the country possessed more than 800 home-made simulators then.
In August 2010, the Iranian Army started using two home-made Cobra Chopper simulators in an airborne base in n Iran's western city of Kermanshah.
