New Lebanese PM-Designate Begins Protocol Visits

Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam met caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut on Monday as part of protocol visits to former Prime Ministers before consultations on forming the new government.
"I listened carefully to Mikati's point of view based on his vast experience in public work and in the responsible post of prime minister," Salam told reporters after talks.
Moreover, MP Salam visited former PM Salim al-Hoss declaring his optimism in reaching positive results. For his part, former PM al-Hoss wished the PM-Designate Salam luck in this task, pointing out that it is not an easy duty.
Hoss further expressed hope that the cabinet be formed soon in order to maintain its duties, stressing on the importance of holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on a fair electoral law that meets the aspirations of all Lebanese people.
Salam also held talks with Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun at the latter's residence in Rabieh, where he announced he would not run for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
