The "Israeli" Prison Service on Wednesday informed 86 Palestinians they would be moved to different prisons as punishment for protesting the martyrdom of Maysara Abu Hamdiyeh.
This comes as Palestinian prisoners from all factions on Tuesday announced a three-day hunger strike to protest the death of Abu Hamdiyeh, who died of ill-treatment and torture despite suffering from cancer in "Israeli" custody.
The death raised tensions in "Israeli" prisons, and disturbances broke out in Ketziot, Eshel, Ramon and Nafha prisons as the news spread.
Meanwhile, thousands of Palestinian prisoners in "Israeli" jails sent back their food on Wednesday morning as part of their protest.
At Ramon Prison in southern the Zionist entity, "Israeli" soldiers opened tear gas on protesting prisoners.
This, according to the Zionist entity, led to the injury of three of the prisoners.
In parallel, long-term hunger striker Samir Issawi sent his condolences to the family of the martyr Abu Hamdiyeh.
"Maysara died for the battle of dignity and pride, which is fought by thousands of steadfast Palestinians," Issawi wrote in a letter passed to his lawyer Jawad Boulus.
"Here we walk the path that would either lead us to dignified freedom, or to martyrdom for the soil of our land," wrote Issawi.
After nine months on hunger strike, Issawi's heart muscles are dangerously weak, and the low levels of minerals and salts in his blood could cause brain damage, medics said, according to the lawyer.
Issawi, who was transferred to the Kaplan Medical Center on Feb. 27, is determined to continue his strike and refuses any supplements in his water, Bulous added.
