Qahwaji: Lebanon Went Through ‘Most Dangerous Security Issue since 8 Years’

Lebanese Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji reiterated that Lebanon, in the past 24 hours, went through "the most dangerous security issue since 8 years," describing "events as a sign to where constant sectarian and political provocations might lead."
Moreover, he called on politicians and spiritual figures to take responsibility in ceasing those who provoke each other in Lebanon.
In an interview with Lebanese as-Safir daily, Qahwaji addressed politicians by saying, "Fortify [domestic affairs] so that the Army can focus on the borders," wondering how parties call on the Army to take responsibility in protecting the borders, while they deplete the Army in both domestic security issues and borders.
Qahwaji further stated that thousands of soldiers deployed from the South to the North as well as al-Bekaa "spend days without a single hour of sleep."
He asked that everyone acknowledge the amount of danger facing Lebanon, reassuring that "there is no fear on Lebanon and it is able to overcome adversity."
Furthermore, Qahwaji accentuated that the military body has vowed to protect Lebanon and will seek with all its power to push secession away.
