BBC's Panorama program revealed evidence that CIA and MI6 shrugged off intelligence from Iraqi foreign minister and spy chief before the invasion about there not being any WMD in Iraq.

MI6, CIA Knew before Invasion that Iraq Had No Active WMDTony Blair had stated before the war that intelligence showed Iraq's nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons program was "active", "growing" and "up and running".

Naji Sabri, Saddam's foreign minister, told the CIA's station chief in Paris then, Bill Murray, that Iraq had "virtually nothing" in terms of WMD, the program mentioned.
However, Panorama reiterated that three months before the war, an MI6 officer met Iraq's head of intelligence, Tahir Habbush al-Tikriti, who also confirmed that Saddam had no active WMD.

One unidentified MI6 officer told the Chilcot inquiry it was "wishful thinking... [that] promised the crock of gold at the end of the rainbow".
Panorama asked for an interview with Blair but said he was "too busy".
