Salehi: Results of Tripartite Talks on Syria FruitfulOn the sidelines of an international conference on 'Iran and Regional Cooperation in Eurasia', Salehi clarified that "the leaders of Iran, Egypt and Turkey have had consultations over this issue and we have reached good results and Tehran is due to inform the officials in Cairo of its view on Egypt's plan for the Syrian crisis."
"Iran is also in continued consultations with Russia and China on the Syrian crisis," he said, and added that "the three countries enjoy common positions on the issue."

He further underscored that "the dissidents and the Syrian government should hold talks with each other without any preconditions."

Referring to Iran's six-point peace plan for Syria, Salehi said that, under the proposal, violence should be stopped in the Arab country and the Syrian government and opposition groups should form a transitional government."
The Iranian top diplomat also said that the Syrian government has proposed holding a national dialog after a ceasefire takes effect between the government and opposition groups.

Earlier this month, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a meeting with his Egyptian and Turkish counterparts Mohamed Mursi and Abdullah Gul to discuss the ongoing crisis in Syria and the solutions to end the unrest in the Arab country.
During the trilateral meeting in Cairo, which was held on the sidelines of the 12th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation [OIC], the trio called for an immediate settlement of the crisis and an end to the bloodshed in Syria.
Syria has been the scene of deadly unrest since March 2011 which has claimed the lives of thousands of Syrians including a large number of Syrian soldiers and security forces.
