Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received on Monday Patriarch John X Yazigi, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East.


Al-Assad Receives Yazigi, Jordanian Delegation: Syria Not to SurrenderAl-Assad congratulated Yazigi on his inauguration as Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, wishing him luck in his new position and lauding the historic role of the Church in spreading messages of amity, good and tolerance in the world in general and in Syria in particular.
In parallel, the Syrian President lauded the high national sense of the Church and its essential role in consecrating national unity in the face of the attack targeting Syria which aims to tear apart the unified Syrian fabric and Syrians' coexistence values.
For his part, Yazigi voiced strong confidence that Syria will emerge victorious from the current crisis, stressing the importance of Syrians' adherence to their unity and national standards to reach victory.

He wished that security, safety and peace will prevail in Syria so that it may return to being a country of good and amity as it always were and always will be, affirming that all Syrians are one family and the Syrian people are one no matter how difficult the circumstances become.
Earlier, the Syrian President received a delegation of Jordanian political activists, lawyers, doctors and engineers headed by Assistant secretary General of the Arab Lawyers' Union Samih Khreis.

The meeting tackled the situation in the region in general and Syria in particular, with the delegation members voicing the Jordanian people's support for the Syrian people in their current ordeal.
They further affirmed that honest Arabs will not leave Syria alone in the face of the conspiracies against it, and that the Syrian blood was shed in defense of all honest Arabs and that it will write Syria's coming victory.
For his part, al-Assad thanked the delegation members for their national stances in support of the Syrian people, affirming that "Syria will remain the beating heart of Arabism and that it will not surrender no matter how much pressure is exerted upon it and regardless of the conspiracies that not only target Syria, but also all Arabs."
