Maliki: Foreign Interference in Syria, Iraq Blatant

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki affirmed Friday that direct foreign interference in Syria's internal affairs using weapons, funds and planning has become blatant.
In an interview with al-Mayadeen TV, Maliki stressed that "Syria can never be a gateway for Turkeys interference or an area of influence for a barely-microscopic Arab country."
"Such interference, which aims to achieve specific interests in Syria, will be transferred to Jordan, Iraq, Egypt and other countries," he warned.

In parallel, the Iraqi top official pointed out that "the whole world is currently complaining from the Turkish-Qatari axis, and that meetings held in Ankara, Doha and other capitals for planning and collecting funds were eyeing Iraq after Syria."
"The interference which took place in Syria cannot be covered or obscured, as there is direct planning with weapons, funds, planning and media, with sides speaking on behalf of the Syrian people," he added.

Maliki further warned that "the region is in danger as there is a plan to reshape it, and this plan is causing what is happening in Iraq, Syria and Egypt in order to divert them from their pivotal role in favor of a project that involves Turkey and benefits "Israel" primarily, while greater powers are watching."

"Turkey seeks a role that is larger than it is, and wishes to spread and take control of the region and resurrect the Ottoman empire which is unacceptable," he said.
Meanwhile, Maliki urged Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to think about his people first because the Turkish people deserve freedom and democracy.
"The conflict in Syria has become a proxy battle between regional and international forces," he stated, and stressed that the armed opposition is unable to topple the government, but if interference continues and political solutions aren't thought, then bombings and violence will continue.
