Rally in Solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners: Gaza
Local Editor
The Islamic Jihad Movement has staged a rally in the Gaza Strip to show solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners being held in "Israeli" jails.
Holding the flags of Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian factions, the demonstrators chanted slogans in support of the detainees, who are on hunger strike in prisons of the Zionist entity.
Moreover, the protesters warned the "Israeli" regime against the indefinite detention of the Palestinian prisoners.
The health condition of some of the Palestinian hunger strikers, including 33-year-old Samer Issawi, has deteriorated in the past few weeks.
Issawi has been on a hunger strike for weeks to protests against his administrative detention, a controversial practice used by Tel Aviv, which allows "Israeli" authorities to hold people, mostly Palestinians, indefinitely without charge or trial.
Issawi was arrested in July 2012 only months after being released as part of a prisoner swap deal in 2011. Independent sources put the number of Palestinian inmates in "Israeli" jails at 11,000.
