Syrian PM Delegation in Iran, Ahmadinejad Reiterates Support to Syria

Syrian PM Delegation in Iran, Ahmadinejad Reiterates Support to Syria Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi headed a prestigious delegation to Tehran on Tuesday.
 The delegation was received in Mehrabad International Airport by the Iranian Minister of Transportation and Housing, Ali Nikzad and was given an official greeting ceremony in the Presidential Residency.
The delegation met with Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, and Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi among others.
Sources who accompanied the Syrian delegation indicated in an interview with al-Ahed News website, "The visit aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation against the economic war on the resistance and ways of countering it, especially after the Western sanctions on Syria."

Ahmadinejad Meets al-Halqi, Reiterates Support for Syrian Nation

Ahmadinejad stressed, "The Syrian people will overcome adversity and Syria will surpass this crisis."

In a meeting with the Syrian PM Wael al-Halqi, Ahmadinejad reiterated peaceful solutions to the crisis, stating, "There is no solution but to cease violence and conduct dialogue, national understanding, democracy, and elections."
He further expressed Iran's support for Syria in restoring stability and facing various challenges, calling on both Syrian and Iranian governments to strengthen collaboration and take the procedures and mechanisms necessary to boost relations.

For his part, al-Halqi reviewed the foreign-backed terrorism in Syria, underlining, "The Syrians' ability to face and exceed these challenges is due to its national unity."

The PM deliberated the economic hardships Syria faces in the oil and gas sector from armed terrorist groups' attacks.

Al-Halqi Meets Iranian Officials, Hold Talks

Al-Halqi and the Iranian First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Rahimi held joint talks concerning Syrian-Iranian collaboration in fields of economy, trade, finance, health, banking, etc.
Al-Halqi and Rahimi discussed the challenges the two countries face because they insist on their principles and rights, and stressed their ability to overcome such trials.

Al-Halqi thanked Iran for its efforts and support for Syria against conspiracies.
Furthermore, al-Halqi met Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, in which the latter stressed support for "Syria's endurance against challenges and conspiracies."
Al-Halqi, in turn, expressed gratitude for Iran for its supportive stances in light of the current crisis.

On another note, the Syrian PM met Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Akbar Salehi, where both deliberated bilateral ties and political updates in the region.
Al-Halqi and Salehi accentuated, "Syria and Iran face, with their cooperation and endurance, the plots that intend to strike the resistance and destabilize the region's security and stability."

Salehi stated Iran's commitment to provide Syria's essentials to survival and endurance.
For his part, al-Halqi underscored, "The political program to solve the crisis in Syria as proposed by President Bashar Assad is the way out of the current crisis by peaceful means," indicating, "[the Syrian government] appeals all forces, national parties, and economic, national, and civil groups to hold a national conference for dialogue to get out of the current crisis and achieve national reconciliation."

Al-Halqi Deliberates Bilateral Ties with Iranian Security Minister

Moreover, the Syrian PM met with Iran's Security Minister, Haidar Moslehi and deliberated the Iranian-Syrian ties and the joint promotion in all fields to face shared challenges.

Al-Halqi praised Iran's stances and support to the Syrian economy.
