Aleppo University Attack Reaps 82 Lives At least, Iran Condemns Act

Two explosions rocked the University of Aleppo in the second largest city of Syria on Tuesday. The explosions reportedly targeted an area between the halls of residence and the faculty of architecture on the first day of exams.
Syrian ambassador to the United Nations has condemned the recent attack describing it as "cowardly."

"A cowardly terrorist act targeted the students of Aleppo University," which killed "82 students and wounded 162 other students," Bashar Ja'afari told a Security Council session held on the same day under the chairmanship of Pakistan's Foreign Minister.
"The terrorist armed groups in my country always take advantage of a Security Council meeting to perpetrate a terrorist attack inside Syria and this is indeed what happened today perhaps for the 10th or 20th time since the crisis in my country began," Ja'afari stated.

He further stressed that the terrorist activities committed by the armed terrorist groups in Syria have reached dangerous levels in terms of quality and quantity.
"The suspicious goals which some countries seek to achieve by supporting terrorism and extremism in Syria have started to appear on the surface," he said while delivering Syria's statement.

According to the Syrian state television, terrorists launched two rockets at the university complex.

Some displaced Syrians, including women and children, who had taken the university complex as refuge were among the casualties.
In a related context, SANA reporter was informed that terrorists fired two rocket shells on Bani Zaid area in the city, with the initial information indicating victims and injuries among the citizens.

On Iran's behalf, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, strongly condemned the terrorist attack against the University.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mehmanparast said that these terrorist attacks will not lead except to strengthening the Syrian people's determination in preserving the principles of resistance.

He renewed his country's stances on finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria, calling the international scientific and academic organizations to condemn these terrorist acts.

Mehmanparast offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured quick recovery, asserting that these acts are inhuman.
