Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas stated on Thursday that "Israel's" settlement plans in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the West Bank crossed a "red line" and Palestinians must do everything possible to oppose the move.
Abbas reiterated that the new settlements would isolate the city from its surroundings and split the West Bank in two.

Abbas: Settlement Construction Crosses Red Line "We will not allow these things to go unpunished," said Abbas.
Moreover, the PLO‘s leadership issued a statement urging Abbas to file a complaint to the UN Security Council, and appealing it to issue a binding resolution against "Israeli" construction beyond the Green Line.
The statement also called for more cooperation from the international community to protect the Palestinian people from "crimes and aggression by settlers, in compliance with the occupying forces, against Palestinian residents and their properties."
"Israel" faced scathing rebuke from the US and European countries last month after it announced it would advance settlement plans in East al-Quds, The Times of "Israel" reported.

Construction in E1, a West Bank territory that "Israel" occupied in 1967, would connect a large Jewish settlement to al-Quds (Jerusalem). However, the move would also divide the West Bank in two, preventing a sovereign Palestinian state to be made.

The E1 Settlement plan was considered an "Israeli" retaliation after Palestine obtained an upgrade status in the UN to non-member observer state.
