Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad accused Thursday the United States and Europe of using the chemical weapons title to justify a future military intervention.
"There is a foreign conspiracy, led by Washington and its cheap tools, to justify the military intervention," Mekdad stressed.
In an interview with al-Manar TV channel, he further warned that "any such intervention, especially from any Arab country, would be catastrophic on the regional level."
"We aren't afraid of any aggression, and the causes that might lead to such aggression does not exist," the Syrian top official highlighted.
In parallel, he confirmed that " they must understand that any aggression would neither be a trip ."
Mekdad further reassured that his country "would never use chemical weapons -even if it had them- against its own people."
"This is a suicide," he said, and noted that " he who wants to isolate Damascus is in reality isolating himself."
On the NATO's decision to deploy Patriot missiles in Turkey along borders with Turkey, the Syrian official emphasized that "this is a bankrupt step to the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan that is begging NATO's assistance."
Regarding the leaked rumors' of the near fall of the Syrian regime after the end of Damascus' battle, Mekdad mentioned that "What grieves is that some countries, including some friends, belive such rumors."
"We are confident that the Syrian people, which wraps around its leadership, is capable of overcoming these rumors," he said, and wondered: "For what purpose is the Syrian people killed? Is it for the sake of gangs sent by Saudi Arabia?"
On the Lebanese affairs and particularly Tal Kalakh ambush that led to the death of several Lebanese Salfists, Mekdad "Can Syria can stand idle in front of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and his MP Future Okab Saqr, who funds and arms terrorists to kill our people?"
As he hailed the Lebanese army's efforts, he asked "Why do the Lebanese want to kill us following "Israel" and its tool's orders?"
To the Lebanese government, he said: "the government adopted the policy of self-dissociation, as terrorists spread into Lebanon."
Meanwhile, he urged the Lebanese authorities to take a decisive stand of this issue to prevent those terrorist from intervening in Syria and to prosecute those responsible for supplying this terrorism."
"We know that the Saqr has been in Turkey since several months ago, as we know that Saad Hariri receives funds to be distributed to fighters killing Syrian people," he said.
