Likud Candidates Selection Postponed for Malfunction

"Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party began selecting its candidates for January's election on Sunday, but faced a computer malfunction that obliged the selection to be postponed.
More than 90 candidates are competing for less than 30 Likud parliamentary seats. The Likud party is planning to run a joint list with the right-wing Yisrael Beitenu ("Israel Our Home") party headed by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.
However, Netanyahu is not likely to be re-selected for the elections due to criticism from his own party for avoiding a land invasion on Gaza and accepting a ceasefire brokered by Egypt and the US.
A poll published by the Maariv newspaper on Friday showed 49% of "Israelis" voted continuing the military operation in which more than 160 Palestinians and six "Israelis" were killed.
On another note, serious malfunctions in the computerized system caused by the stormy weather lead the "Israeli" election committee to declare an additional day of voting. Some 51.6% of Likud voters had cast their ballots by the end of Sunday.
The "Israeli" Education Minister said, "The voting process is ridiculous and must be stopped immediately."
