Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has congratulated Gaza's Hamas Prime minister Ismail Haniya in a telephone call on a great victory over "Israel", the two sides said on Saturday.
For his part, Haniya "thanked Iran for its support," they added, days after the Palestinian resistance defeated an 8-days "Israeli" offensive against the besieged strip.
"The Iranian president congratulated the people of Gaza and the (Palestinian) resistance facing Zionist aggression ... on their great victory," Iran's news agency ISNA reported.
Haniya's office said Ahmadinejad called late on Friday to praise Gaza's "victory after eight days of "Israeli" aggression."
"We stand beside the Palestinian people," the Iranian president added.
He further reiterated Tehran's support to the Palestinian people and asked Haniyeh to send his condolences to the families of the "Israeli" aggression's martyrs.
"Zionists have reached the end of the road and have no option but to recognize and yield to the absolute right of the Palestinian nation," he added.
Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad confirmed that "the path chosen by the people in the Gaza Strip and the resistance movements would lead to dignity and freedom of all of Palestine."
In parallel, he hoped for liberation of the holy al-Quds and the establishment of justice across the globe through joint efforts of all Muslim nations.
In response, the Hamas leader thanked the Iranian president for his country's role and told him that the victory belongs to Muslims worldwide.
This comes as Iranian House Speaker Ali Larijani hailed the recent victory of Gaza as a "horrendous tsunami for Tel Aviv."
"The victory of the resistance in Gaza indicated that the Palestinian resistance and the Lebanese resistance are strategic forces, and this victory was a horrendous tsunami for "Israel"," Larijani told reporters upon his arrival in the Lebanese capital city, Beirut, on Friday.
