UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is on his way to the region to personally appeal for what he called "an end to the violence."

"This must stop," said Ban, as he urged "the parties to co-operate with all efforts led by Egypt to reach an immediate ceasefire."

Abstaining from any harsh remarks on "Israeli" massacres in Gaza, the head of the international body said he "was deeply saddened by the deaths of the Dalou family and other Palestinians."
A strike on the home of the Dalou family in Gaza martyred at least 11 people on Sunday. Five women, including one 80-year-old, and four small children were among the martyrs.

However, Ban expressed alarm at "the continued rocket fire from Gaza against "Israel"."
"Any further escalation will inevitably increase the suffering of the affected civilian populations and must be avoided," he added.

His remarks came as "Israeli" aggression on the besieged strip entered its sixth day with a toll of martyrs that exceeded 90 and more than 500 wounded. Women and children accounted for most of those killed, among them are babies and toddlers.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Prime Minister and the Emir of Qatar are in the Egyptian capital, along with senior "Israeli" diplomats and representatives of Palestinian Resistance movements.
