Former CNN journalist Amber Lyon stated that the Bahraini regime has paid CNN to mislead the coverage of events in light of the regime's oppression on the peaceful popular uprising.

Lyon witnessed that her documentary on the Bahraini demonstrations filmed over 6 months ago was strictly censored by CNN. The documentary was aired on CNN in the US, but not on the international channel.

"The Bahraini regime paid CNN to film the people positively, although CNN's policy states that reports should not be edited or controlled, but Bahrain seems to alter the situation," Lyon confirmed in an interview with Russia Today.
She added that CNN is "publicizing tyrants in media"; broadcasting content that the regime or government buys.

Lyon also stated that this policy is a violation of journalism's fundamental principles. CNN aired programs of the sort in Georgia and Kazakhstan, so Bahrain is not the only one that has misled coverage.

The channel's administration, Lyon added, compelled another reporter, Richard Quest, who hosted a talk show called Bahrain i-List, to prepare episodes on happy people in Bahrain, especially pearl hunters, while the regime resorted to torture doctors and journalists.

Moreover, Lyon mentioned that it was difficult to get a read on the real/actual situation in Bahrain, and deliver the material to the US.
Lyon stated that American media has formed a satanic image of the regimes in Syria, Iran, and other countries, but has ignored the monstrosities occurring in Bahrain and KSA.
