In an effort to bring stability to Syria, UN envoy to Syria al-Akhdar Ibrahimi is in Moscow to meet with the Russian foreign minister.
According to Russia Today news agency, the main plan of action for Monday's meeting is to discuss a political and diplomatic settlement to the crisis in Syria.
"We believe that the collective work should be carried out under the Geneva communique platform, which was agreed to at the meeting of the action groups on June 30 of this year," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksander Lukashevich told the press.
Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Gennady Gatilov, accused the armed Syrian opposition of thwarting Eid al-Adha truce and proceeding with violence.
Russia Today website quoted Gatilov as saying on his Twitter page: "the West has hindered condemning the terrorist operation which occurred on the first day of Eid al-Adha holiday in Damascus at the Security Council."
The Russian official was referring to the car bomb explosion which took place in Daf al-Shouk area to the south of Damascus city and resulted in the death and injury of a number of citizens.
The Russian Itar-Tas news agency, earlier, reported that "Russia on Friday submitted to the Security Council a draft statement condemning the terrorist act."
"The Security Council did not endorse Russia's draft statement because of the stance of a certain country," the agency added.
