Berri: Crisis Might Affect Electoral Law Course, Moment Requires Sanity
In an interview with "al-Akhbar" Lebanese daily, Berri confirmed that "If the loss of head of the Internal Security Forces Information Branch Maj. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan produces a national unity government, I don't mind."
However, he cautioned that "If al-Hassan's loss is going to widen strife and divisions, then this will only serve the goal behind the assassination."
"All sides must be keen on stability," Berri said, and pointed out that "this moment requires sanity and responsible national work."
Moreover, the House Speaker feared that "the implications of the current events are interpreted today as paralysis in the country's general situation, especially on the economic sector."
"The government has succeeded in the past few weeks to overcome points of inertia, and launched a positive workshop by completing important files," he viewed, referring to the agreement on the diplomatic appointments.

The Speaker further hailed the government's agreement on the oil sector and marine wealth that was supposed to appear ahead of Eid al-Adha.
In parallel, Berri expressed fears that "the current crisis affects the course of the electoral law, so that precious time passes without finding an alternative to 1960's or Doha laws."
