Lavrov: US Drone Attacks Violation of Afghan Sovereignty

Russia has described US assassination drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal regions as violation of the Asian country's sovereignty and integrity.
"It is not right to violate the sovereignty and integrity of any state. We fully support Pakistan's stance," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a joint news conference with his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar.
According to Dawn, Lavrov arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday after Russian President Vladimir Putin's plan to travel to Islamabad was cancelled.
Rabbani Khar, for her part, stressed that US terror drone attacks are not only "counterproductive, "but also "illegal" and "unlawful."
The use of US drones in Pakistan's tribal regions has become so frequent. The US claims the attacks target insurgents, yet most victims of the strikes are civilians.
The strikes have triggered massive anti-US demonstrations across Pakistan to condemn the United States violation of their national sovereignty.
